Africa Open East London South Africa Feb 10 – 15Oliver Wilson picks out from the hole after scoring 64 Thomas Aiken South African Open

The final “Long Haul” event of the winter got off to the usual flying start at 7am on Tuesday with 15 at the Study … Even held it outside!  There is excellent opportunity to arrange a few 1 – to – 1s from this and again that worked out well this week …

One of the players had lost his mother-in-law suddenly the Friday previous, whom he was very close to and he was unable to be there at the funeral with his wife, so he was feeling that pain.  In many ways the Sunshine tour [appropriate name for the South African tour] would require a chaplain whilst in Europe it is much more of an outreach role …

Outside of that it was a tad quieter this week … I think the humidity was causing the slow atmosphere, incredible heat that kept you running indoors every half hour for the air conditioning to cool you down …

Although, there were two Godinstances … There was one player at my hotel and I was given the opening to share with him for an hour or so, and on the way home with another pro had missed the cut so I had almost two hours with him in the airport … These were interesting instances, for as we are to “make the most of every opportunity” even though I was able to talk of the work, Jesus and some people who are also involved in Logos roles whom they come across, both of them never took the extra step to enquire further even though they had 3/4 occasions during the chat to do so …. I guess that is another step along the way and not yet the time of the Spirit to do the role on He can do…

On the violence front – shotgun wasn’t required, although in one of the two official hotels there were several rooms burgled in one-off raid, no shots were fired!

I’ve planned a schedule for the European season and as always I greatly appreciate all your encouragements and prayers which you kindly e-mail me with regularly ….
